Graphics only? Hardly...

There seems to be a popular myth around that the Mac is only good for graphics and doesn't have any software available for it. Anyone who owns a Mac can tell you that it's not true and that it has many, many apps available for it.

Computers are fun to me and at times I get into them very heavily. First it started with Win 3.1/95, next was the hardware, onto more advanced OS's like NT 4.0 and finally onto Linux. Linux is neat, and my first exposure was Red Hat Linux 4.2. Yeah... My Linux experience almost ended at that. Not anything against Linux but there just wasn't enough eye candy in it for me. I've tried many, many distributions over the years and even ran strictly Linux on the desktop for 6 straight months. I was proud of that.

A little over a year ago, I inherited an iMac and have been hooked ever since. OS X rocks and it's the ONLY reason that I use one. When I feel the need to exercise my brain I can go into the command line and type away, compile and execute programs like mad, but when I'm too fried or lazy I can retreat into a beautifully made GUI... Mmmm, Eye candy... Not to mention they make some of the best looking hardware.

Here's a neat article on how a developer uses it.

Now don't get me wrong Linux is great and the one distribution that I have a love affair with is Gentoo Linux, one of the most hardcore distro's around. Fast, stable and only took me two days to download, compile and install a complete eye candy filled desktop. :)
