I'm confused...

Can someone please explain to me why the Left, who is trying to remove all instances of God from any federal building, is so hell bent on persecuting our soldiers for possibly mishandling a Koran? Isn't the Koran 'the literal word of God and the culmination of God's revelation to mankind'? And the place these terrorists are located is a federal building, right?
