More Apple Whining (Or I Should Just STFU Already!)

Here's a slightly modified email exchange between me and another Mac user;

There are two kinds of computer users. Those that use computers because they love them, and those that use their computers because they make some task easier for them. The second one is the majority of people and where the real money is. They don't care what the case looks like or how the processor works. They just want the computer to do it's job. If your average PC user can run their favorite PC software EASILY on a bug free, virus free OS, they will probably choose that OS over Windows XP

I have to disagree.  The majority of people know nothing about computers and buy them based on price.  I have been asked many times what computer to but and I say 'Get a Mac'.  The response 'But there's no software for it and it's so expensive'.  I reply back; 'Ok, buy a Dell then'.  I'm not one to argue with what people should do with their money...

   Being a Mac guy, how many times have you heard 'Oh... A Mac... They're good for graphics'.  We both know that's total bullshit but the average person believes it to be true (otherwise you wouldn't hear it so much).  Plus their friend has some lame screen saver or a copy of Office that they will put on it once they get it.

   Get someone a little shopper savvy who looks and compares a Mac with a Dell and they see;

Dell
P4 3.6Ghz
512MB RAM
250Gb HD
Windows Longhorn
$1200

PowerMac(Tel)
P4 3.6Ghz
512MB RAM
250Gb HD
OS X 10.5 Leopard
$3000

'Gee Mister Salesman why the big price difference?'  'Well Miss Customer, it has OS X on it'.  Then they see a copy of OS X on the shelf for $130...

I know, I know, I need to get over this...
